Collection: Stingray Collection

Some stingrays can detect the electric fields of other animals using special sensors called ampullae of Lorenzini. ⚡🦈 This allows them to “see” the heartbeats of buried prey under sand—even in complete darkness.

Even stranger: manta rays, a close relative, can have wingspans over 7 meters (23 feet) yet feed almost entirely on microscopic plankton. They basically fly through the water like underwater airplanes while filtering teeny shrimp and plankton through their gaping mouths.
