For Art's Sake - Painting in My Bocas Bubble
Share
I was recently asked how I create my online art designs. As I started explaining my painting process, they stopped me and said, “Wait, you PAINTED these?”
That moment made me realize how easy it is to assume people know. With so many digital art tools and filters out there, it’s not always obvious that my work is completely hand-painted ...every line, every brushstroke, every signature (which, trust me, is never the same twice).
Each design starts as a 100% hand-painted original. Once it’s finished and sealed, I scan it and load it onto my site, creating the kind of art that makes me smile. And when someone else connects with it enough to actually check out with one of my designs ...honestly, it still blows my mind every time.
You’d think island life would provide an endless source of inspiration, and Panama really is paradise on earth ...but it’s usually the most random ideas that get stuck in my head until I have to paint them. The hardest part of the creative process isn’t the work itself; it’s quieting that voice that asks, “Will this even be any good?”
This might sound more like a journal entry than a blog post, but that’s where my head’s at today.
So far this year, I’ve finished over 30 paintings, and the ideas just keep coming ...one “sticky thought” after another. I recently wrapped up my Bocas Del Toro sign, and, well... the next idea is already forming. Stay tuned.
Thank you all for your support,
Jennifer
